Annual Life Chain, Sunday, October 7, 2018

This is a peaceful, prayerful, and verbally silent gathering of people who are convinced abortion should be illegal because it: (a) kills a baby, (b) psychologically scars the mother for life, (c) is destroying our nation's virtue / compassionate nature, and (d) is a grave offense against God. We "protest" by holding pre-printed, text-only, signs that say as much while we pray--each person on his or her own. No homemade signs are permitted and no images violent or even wholesome are present. You pick from what's available through the on-site organizer.

How does it work? Most locations are aiming for an hour to hour and a half timeslot between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM. After obtaining a sign from the person in charge, you join others in lining up along both sides of a major street, holding the signs facing traffic, but not exposed to harm or interfering with the flow of traffic.

Come join us in a public witness to faith in God, hope for the future, and especially love for these mothers and their children!

Coast to Coast Rosary, Sunday, October 7, 2018

On October 7, the Feast of the Holy Rosary, at 4:00 PM, Catholics will link arms along the waterfront behind the Detroit Renaissance Center and pull out their rosary beads. Across the river, on the Windsor side, Canadian Catholics will do the same. They will be joined by thousands of others across North America, as Catholic prayer warriors take up spiritual arms for the protection of our nation against the devil's wiles.

The rallies will be the culmination of a Novena for Our Nation, a 54-day rosary novena that began August 15, and is being organized through the Holy League, a network of parish-based men's groups devoted to the Rosary and the Blessed Sacrament, and the World Apostolate of Fatima.

So far, hundreds of sites across North America have signed up to participate in the rally, which will take place rain or shine. Those who can't make it to the Riverwalk are encouraged to participate by saying the Rosary wherever they might be. Many groups are organizing pilgrimages to the U.S. border or coastline for the occasion, which is designed to figuratively encircle the nation in Our Lady's protection. Detroit, however, being a border city, doesn't have to travel far.
